Carpet

Carpet DogProvides Warmth And Comfort

Carpet provides actual thermal resistance, or R-value. In colder climates or seasons, it retains warm air longer, an energy conservation benefit. Carpet also provides a comfortable place to sit, play or work and gives a room an overall warmer feeling.

Adds Beauty And Style

You can choose from many thousands of carpet styles and colours. That means your ultimate choice will reflect how you want to personalize your living space. Carpet can be a neutral foundation, or it can be a focal point with vibrant colours and stronger bolder patterns and textures.

Softens Slips And Falls

Carpet is ideal for cushioning our footsteps, reducing slips and falls and minimizing injuries when falls do occur. Carpet provides safety protection for the whole family, but especially for toddlers and older individuals.

Reduces Noise

Big screen TVs, speaker phones, computers and modern sound systems make our homes noisy places. Carpet helps absorb these sounds. Adding a cushion pad beneath your carpet reduces noise even further. Carpet also works as a sound barrier between floors by helping to block sound transmission to rooms below. And carpet on stairs helps mask the sound of constant foot traffic.

Wears Well

Carpet will maintain its life and beauty for many years when properly cleaned and maintained. Learn to keep your carpet looking great over time by following these simple steps:

  • Keep carpet clean through regular vacuuming, the single most effective way to keep carpets clean.
  • Have carpets cleaned professionally, a periodic must.
  • A good carpet underlay adds comfort and durability to your carpet. We only sell quality carpet underlay which will make your new carpet feel better, last longer and improve heat and sound insulation.

Nylon –
Nylon is the leading fibre used in carpet production around the world.
Nylon carpets are outstanding in their ability to resist abrasive wear, loss of pile fibre due to foot traffic and resilience in recovering from pile crushing. Many years of research into nylon fibre construction has enabled fibres to be specifically engineered and treated to minimise soiling, varying the degree of lustre, maximise colour, clarity and the application of stain blocking technology which significantly increases the fibres resistance to staining and improves the cleanability.
There are two methods used to add colour to the nylon fibre, one is continuous dyeing whereby the nylon fibre is produced in white form and the colour is then added. The other method is called solution dyeing where the actual colour is added to the molten nylon polymer before the yarn is produced, meaning that the colour runs right through the fibre. Both methods deliver an outstanding finished yarn that will deliver excellent on-floor performance, with easy maintenance.
Polyester –
Polyester is another synthetic fibre. Polyester offers excellent stain and fade resistance as well as performance and value for money. Polyester fibre is often made from recycled materials making it more environmentally friendly.
Polypropylene –
Polypropylene fibre is coloured using the solution dyed process described above. Polypropylene has excellent soil and stain resistant properties and also boasts excellent colourfastness. When constructed in tight dense loop pile carpets it delivers exceptional service, wear and tear and excellent value for money.
Wool –
Wool is seen by many as the classic carpet fibre. Being a natural fibre, wool has excellent recovery from stress under the influence of moisture so that wet cleaning revives the pile as well as removing soil.
Where does the wool come from? Wool produced in Australia is generally believed too soft for use in carpet. The vast majority of wool used for carpet comes from sheep that live in colder climates i.e. New Zealand, UK and Scotland where the sheep grow coarse wool, which is ideal for the wear and tear that carpets endure. When used correctly in dense pile construction, wool offers long term durability, appearance retention and the ability to keep its fresh beauty whilst unquestionably growing old gracefully.
Solution Dyed Nylon –
Colour is added to the fibre at the time it is produced. This means that the colour runs right through the fibre – not just coated on the outside, offering excellent colour retention. Solution dyed nylon is very resistant to fading, performing well in areas with direct sunlight. This fibre also boasts excellent cleaning properties, as stronger cleaning chemicals can be used in most cases, without stripping the colour from the outside of the fibre.
Blends –
There are a number of blended fibres used in carpet production. 50/50 wool/nylon or polypropylene to 80% wool/20% nylon and variations in between. Combining fibres can mean you get a blend of the positive properties associated with two types. For example, you can get a carpet that delivers the soft luxurious feel of wool with the added abrasive quality and strength of nylon.

Carpet Stain Removal Guide

If you get a stain on your carpet, remember immediate action is the key – most stains will come out if you get to them quickly.
Generally most stains will respond to the following;
  1. Scoop up or blot as much of the spill as possible with a clean white cloth or paper towel, always working toward the center of the stain.
    Remember: DO NOT SCRUB.
  2. Apply cold water with a sponge and flush as much of the stain out as possible. Blot again with a cloth or paper towel.
  3. Apply Scotchgard Carpet Cleaner as directed on the container.
  4. Apply cold water again and blot thoroughly.
  5. Dry with paper towel or white cloth.

If stains do not lift after using this procedure then refer to the following chart and/or consult a professional carpet cleaner.
